- Explore different hobbies and interests.
Try different activities to see what resonates with you. For example, I’m filming this video in nature because I love going for walks or runs through the forest. Your hobby might be painting, cooking, or playing sports. - Reflect on what brings you joy.
Think about the things and activities that make you happy and feel fulfilled. What activities or tasks do you look forward to doing?
For example, I love to go trail riding because it gets me out of the house, I get plenty of exercise and I see different things around the neighborhood that excites me. If anyone’s talking about nature, I get excited about it. - Take personality tests.
There are many online personality tests that will help you discover your strengths and interests, such as the Myers-Briggs Personality Test. - Volunteer for a cause that you care about.
This will help you discover what you’re passionate about and how you can make a difference. Often when you do things for others, you forget about yourself and discover new things about your own personality, interests, and hobbies.
For example, when I was a kid, I’d help mow the lawns or my neighbors and feel really fulfilled once I’d finished mowing their lawns. - Talk to people.
Talk to family, friends, and mentors about what they think your strengths and interests are. They’ll be able to provide insights that you haven’t even considered. When I’m doubting myself, I’ll ask my friends, family or wife, what they love about me. This gives me confidence to continue what I’m doing. - Read books.
This helps discover new areas of interest and deepens your knowledge of things that you enjoy. - Try new things.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, even if it’s outside your comfort zone. You never know what you may discover about yourself. For example, usually I’m filming inside my office, but often I go outside because it gives me new energy and new things to look at. - Keep a journal.
Write down your thoughts and feelings about different things and experiences. This can help you identify patterns and discover different things that you enjoy.
For example, if I don’t know what to write about or film, I’ll just start writing or filming, and then the creative juices kick in. Give it a try yourself. - Focus on your values.
Think about your values and what matters most to you. It could be your wife, family, friends, or activities that you do every day. Your passions may align with your values, such as trying to make the world a better place and impacting others. - Take a break.
Take a break from your daily routine and spend time in nature so you can relax, clear your mind, and allow creative thoughts to come into your mind. It will help you to gain clarity and focus on what truly matters to you.
