  • Click generate ideas. TubeBuddy will generate 8 different video titles.
  • Select the title that you like and click apply.
  • I like this one. “How to trim videos quickly and easily on your phone or iPad, no app required.”
  • After you’ve clicked apply, the new title will appear in your video title box.
  • If you don’t like any of the titles generated, you can just click Generate Ideas again. It’ll now generate another 8 alternative video ideas. .

Another way to access the title generator is to go to the video details page. Just hover over the video, click on details. You’ll see title generator over here on the right, or you can click on Title Generator under your video title then click generate ideas

Absolutely. If you upgrade to the legend version of TubeBuddy you can split test different titles.

  • Click okay. If I go to my TubeBuddy page and look under AB tests, I can see the status of my test. I can stop the test. I can see the settings, my original title and my variation title, and it says my initial results will be ready on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023.
  • I can also create a new AB test

Do you want to rank your videos on the first page of YouTube by uncovering the titles people are searching for on YouTube?

The keyword research tool from TubeBuddy called Keyword Explorer helps you uncover what people are searching for on YouTube so you can rank higher in the YouTube search results. For example, this video titled “How to Translate YouTube Comments to English” currently ranks on the first page of YouTube and ranks number one on Google search.

Here’s how to use TubeBuddys Keyword Explorer tool to discover titles that are easy to rank for.

  • Click on the TubeBuddy icon at the top of the page.
  • Click launch keyword explorer.
  • Now enter a keyword word phrase. I’m gonna put “How to trim videos” and now it gives me the suggestions from YouTube search how to trim videos on your phone, YouTube, TikTok, et cetera.
  • If I click “Explore” I get a poor weighted score.

Weighted means how good this keyword word is to target for your specific channel based upon search volume and competition relevancy.

Unweighted means general score for how good this keyword word is to target based on search volume and competition.

I’ve got related searches from YouTube such as, how to trim videos on your phone, YouTube, TikTok, et cetera.
  • I’m gonna choose “How to trim videos on your iPhone.”
  • Now I’ve got a very good score.
  • Search volume is fair, competition is good. Optimization strength is excellent.
  • If I click unweighted score, it says, good.
  • If I add or iPad, click score. again, I’ve got an excellent weighted score.
  • If I click unweighted, it’s also excellent.
  • If I click on Results, I can see all the videos that are currently ranking in YouTube Search results. Oh, here’s mine. “How to Trim videos on your phone and iPad, no app required.”
  • Click copy to Clipboard to copy your title. If you get an overall SEO score of very good or excellent, it increases the probability of a video getting high rankings in the search engines.

After you’ve uncovered a title that is easy to rank for, use TubeBuddys title generator to come up with alternative clickable video titles. You can then use TubeBuddys title split testing feature to see which title performs the best and get you the most views.

So how do you know what your passion is?

  1. Explore different hobbies and interests.
Try different activities to see what resonates with you. For example, I’m filming this video in nature because I love going for walks or runs through the forest. Your hobby might be painting, cooking, or playing sports.
  2. Reflect on what brings you joy.
Think about the things and activities that make you happy and feel fulfilled. What activities or tasks do you look forward to doing?

For example, I love to go trail riding because it gets me out of  the house,  I get plenty of exercise and I see different things around the neighborhood that excites me. If anyone’s talking about nature, I get excited about it.
  3. Take personality tests.
There are many online personality tests that will help you discover your strengths and interests, such as the Myers-Briggs Personality Test.
  4. Volunteer for a cause that you care about.
This will help you discover what you’re passionate about and how you can make a difference. Often when you do things for others, you forget about yourself and discover new things about your own personality, interests, and hobbies.

For example, when I was a kid, I’d help mow the lawns or my neighbors and feel really fulfilled once I’d finished mowing their lawns.
  5. Talk to people.
Talk to family, friends, and mentors about what they think your strengths and interests are. They’ll be able to provide insights that you haven’t even considered. When I’m doubting myself, I’ll ask my friends, family or wife, what they love about me. This gives me confidence to continue what I’m doing.
  6. Read books.
This helps discover new areas of interest and deepens your knowledge of things that you enjoy.
  7. Try new things.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, even if it’s outside your comfort zone. You never know what you may discover about yourself. For example, usually I’m filming inside my office, but often I go outside because it gives me new energy and new things to look at.
  8. Keep a journal.
Write down your thoughts and feelings about different things and experiences. This can help you identify patterns and discover different things that you enjoy.

For example, if I don’t know what to write about or film, I’ll just start writing or filming, and then the creative juices kick in. Give it a try yourself.
  9. Focus on your values.
Think about your values and what matters most to you. It could be your wife, family, friends, or activities that you do every day. Your passions may align with your values, such as trying to make the world a better place and impacting others.
  10. Take a break.
Take a break from your daily routine and spend time in nature so you can relax, clear your mind, and allow creative thoughts to come into your mind. It will help you to gain clarity and focus on what truly matters to you.

If you implement these 10 steps I outlined, it’ll be much easier to identify your passion and grow a YouTube channel you really care about.

It’ll also be much easier to keep going when the going gets tough, such as you have a few views or a few subscribers. This will result in a steady growth of YouTube channel.

Here’s a HUGE TIP….

If you’re just starting out or have a small channel that’s having trouble growing. Research keywords that people are entering into YouTube search to find out new information.

When your videos rank on the first page of YouTube for those particular keywords, you’ll get evergreen traffic week after week, year after year.

Transform YouTube Shorts With Custom Thumbnails on iOS, Android & Computer

Recently I polled my subscribers by asking them the question… “What type of custom thumbnail do you add to your Shorts video?

21% said, I don’t know how to add a custom shorts thumbnail, so in this video, I’m going to show you how to select a frame from your shorts video to use as a custom thumbnail whether you have a iPhone or and Android device.

Here’s how to do it….

Get My New Shorts Course: Mastering YouTube Shorts: The Complete Guide

  • Tap the YouTube app,
  • tap the plus sign,
  • tap create a short,
  • tap 15 to lengthen it to 60 seconds.
  • Tap the red button to record a short or tap add to add one from your camera roll.
  • Tap done.
  • Tap the check icon.
  • Now I can select any frame from my Short.
  • Tap done.
  • Caption the short (add title)
  • Tap visibility to select public, unlisted, or private, or schedule it.
  • Tap upload short. Now it’s uploading my short.
  • Tap library to see how the shorts thumbnail looks like.

You can also see how the thumbnail will appear on your channel pages recommendations on YouTube’s homepage, on videos listed in the  subscriptions tab and in YouTube search results.

The only place you won’t see any thumbnails is in the Shorts feed where your shorts videos play automatically as viewers swipe through it.

Here’s an important note from YouTube….

“It’s not currently possible to change the thumbnail after your Short has been uploaded, but we look forward to bringing this feature to you in the future.”

When I ask my subscribers, “what type of custom thumbnail do you add to your shorts video?”  19% said I upload a regular horizontal thumbnail.

But how can you upload a regular horizontal thumbnail from a computer when YouTube says, “for now you can’t change the thumbnail on your Short”

Here’s the workaround to upload a regular horizontal thumbnail from your computer using the Free Chrome Extension VidIQ

  • Click on the content tab in YouTube studio,
  • Select the shorts video you want to add a custom thumbnail to.
  • Click on details. It’s currently showing a vertical thumbnail that YouTube has automatically selected. It says, “for now, you can’t change the thumbnail on your short”, but if you have the free Chrome extension VidIQ installed, you’ll see this blue icon called “Create Thumbnail”.
  • Click “Create Thumbnail”
  • Click drop file here, or browse for files. Select a horizontal thumbnail from your computer.
  • Click open,
  • Click next,
  • Click next again, it says, this is what your thumbnail will look like around the web on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Click save thumbnail.
  • Click close.

Now, if I reload the page, it shows the horizontal thumbnail that I created instead of the vertical thumbnail.

Keep in mind a regular horizontal thumbnail won’t appear in YouTube search or in the shorts feed, but it will appear in Google search.

Another way to upload a custom thumbnail for a YouTube short is to use the TubeBuddy Chrome extension.

How to upload a custom horizontal thumbnail for a YouTube Short using TubeBuddy

  • Click on a TubeBuddy icon. It says TubeBuddy tools.
  • Click on image or existing thumbnail.
  • Click on the banner that says, “click To upload your own image”
  • Select your image.
  • Click open
  • Select your thumbnail,
  • Click continue.
  • Click continue.  It will  show all the competing thumbnails on YouTube.
  • Click save and publish. “Are you sure you want to publish the thumbnail?”
  • Click okay, and here’s my thumbnail.

Just keep in mind you, you can only upload a custom horizontal thumbnail for your Short using your computer.

How To Translate Your YouTube Video

  • Create a free account for the online video editor called Kapwing,
  • Click Create new project.
  • You can upload your video file or enter the URL of your YouTube video in the box.
  • So I’m going to paste it. Now it’s fetching the video.
  • Click on subtitles.
  • Now we’re going to transcribe the video by generating subtitles. Click on generate subtitles.

I recommend translating it into English first to correct any mistakes, then translating it into a different language after that.

If you want to translate it right away, you can click on the drop down and choose from any of these different languages from all around the world. I’m just going to use the original language, so click generate subtitles. It says, please wait while the transcription is generated.

After all the subtitles have been generated, you can correct any mistakes.

When you’re happy with the transcript, you can save it as a SRT file which you can upload to YouTube. This will generate subtitles for your video in the original language, and closed captions will appear under your video, so people that are hard of hearing or have the sound turned off can read the captions while watching the video.

You can also save it as a text file and upload it to your blog or website and embed your video.

  • To translate it into a different language, click the dropdown that says, select the language.
  • I’m going to choose Spanish.
  • Click translate. to tanslate the video

While the video’ is being translated into Spanish, keep in mind your video can be translated into multiple different languages to reach a wider audience. Closed captions have been added to the bottom of the video.

You can enhance your captions by choosing different font, font size, change the text color, choose a different text outline, use a different background color.

Add animations

If I click  on animations,  I can choose different colored animations. If I play the video, you’ll see that the words are highlighted as I speak the words.

  • If you want to remove the closed captions that Kapwing has put on your video, just highlight the bar containing captions.
  • Tap delete on the keyboard.
  • It says Remove Magic subtitles.
  • This will remove the magic subtitles for this asset from the project.
  • Click remove. Now the closed captions have been removed.
  • If you want to save the video with the closed captions on your video, just click Export project.
  • Select the format. MP4. Resolution will just set it to Auto.
  • Click Export as mp4.
  • Now Kapwing is processing the video.
  • When it’s finished processing, you can copy the link, share it with Twitter, Facebook, or embed the video, or you can download the file.
  • Click download file. Here’s the downloaded file that it can upload to YouTube. .

Here’s how to upload the SRT file to YouTube containing timestamps,  so your YouTube video will display closed captions and subtitles in Spanish.

  • Click on subtitles in YouTube studio
  • Select a video that you wish to translate.
  • Click add language. I’m going to select Spanish United States
  • Click Upload file.
  • You can select with timing or without timing, but without timing it’s only available for the video’s original language.
  • So I’m selecting with timing. Click continue
  • Select the SRT file.
  • Click open. You can see the closed captions under the video.
  • Click publish.
  • Now you can see that the Spanish translation has been published. Let’s play the video.
  • If I click on closed captions, then you can see the English closed captions are under the video.
  • If I click on settings, click the arrow next to English United States.,I can select Spanish.
  • Now if I play the video, the Spanish closed captions will be under the video.
  • You could select auto translate, but it won’t be that accurate.
  • If the viewer wants to see captions in a different language,
  • click the cog icon.
  • Click the arrow next to English, United States.
  • Click Auto Translate
  • Select the language.
  • Now you’ll see closed captions in the Hindi language.

Keep in mind that if you don’t upload a transcript for your YouTube video, viewers will be unable to auto translate the content of your video. This means they won’t be able to view the captions in a different language.

Keep in mind videos that are captioned will see an increase in watch time and videos that have been translated into different languages will reach a wider audience.

How can viewers find my Shorts?

  • Viewers can find shorts by tapping on the dedicated shorts tab at the bottom of the screen using the YouTube app. After a viewer clicks on a short, they can scroll to watch more shorts.
  • You can also discover shorts on the YouTube homepage, then scroll horizontally to view more shorts. If you click on a short, you can scroll vertically to watch more shorts.
  • If you tap on your subscriptions feed, you’ll also see shorts.
  • Shorts can also be discovered in YouTube search and Google search when people enter that search term in the search bar.
  • Shorts will also appear on the YouTube channel homepage if you add a shorts section.
  • You can also watch shorts on your smart TVs, gaming consoles and streaming devices.
  • If you tap on your content tab in YouTube studio, you’ll notice there’s a dedicated shorts tab at the top.

How to view Shorts Analytics

If you tap on analytics, you’ll see the number of likes and subscribers in the last 28 days, how they chose to view, how many swiped away your top shorts, how viewers find your shorts, external sites, YouTube search terms, content suggesting you and playlists featuring you

If you tap on a short to view its individual analytics, you will be able to see the views, subscribers, estimated revenue, audience retention , top traffic sources, if it was shown in the feed, how many chose to view, percentage that swiped away, how viewers find the video, external sites or apps, YouTube search terms content suggesting this video and playlists featuring this short.

Here are some best practices when making your shorts so you can improve engagement and get more views.

  • The first few seconds of your short will determine if the viewer watches all the way through, therefore, create a strong hook in those first few seconds.
  • You kind of need to establish in the first two to three seconds why someone should watch this all the way till the end.
  • If you aim for a retention rate that is close to a 100% there’s a high probability your short will do well.
  • If you’re landing in like the 35 to 45 second range and driving over 90% retention, it’s pretty likely going to go somewhat viral.
  • Try to tell a story in your shorts video so it keeps views watching all the way through.
  • One thing we noticed with some of our shorts that weren’t doing as well, we were kind of delivering a lot of the information up top and then there was no reason to keep watching.
  • One way to keep viewers attention throughout your Shorts video is to use lots of B-roll every few seconds.
  • Keep in mind that your shorts loop, so pace your content accordingly and encourage replayability.

Are shorts worth it?

  • Currently, YouTube Shorts receives over 15 billion views per day, therefore I highly recommend going all in on Shorts.
  • You can also use shorts to promote your long form videos by editing your long form video into a short. A link to the original video will appear at the end of your short. Click here to learn how to edit a long form video into a Short.
  • You can also reply to a comment with a short, and the person that left a comment will be notified about the Short. The short will also appear in the comment. Click here to learn how to reply to a comment with a Short.
  • With shorts, you have the ability to reach new audiences that you can’t reach with long form videos because your shorts videos appear in the shorts feed when somebody’s scrolling their phone using the YouTube app.
  • Shorts are easier and faster to make because you can just use your phone.
  • Shorts are a great way to attract a lot of views fast and grow your channel.

Revealed: “The Secret” to Sharing a Private Playlist on YouTube

Mike just finished a video course and uploaded all the videos to a YouTube playlist, but he wanted to keep the YouTube playlist private because he only wanted to share it with his friends and family.

How can he share a private playlist without making the playlist public?

In the video below, you’ll learn how to share a private playlist via email and how to share a playlist with anyone that gets a playlist link.

Click here to sign up for my automated newsletter, so you’ll receive an email notification every time I upload a new video to my channel

Here’s how to share private playlist via email

According to YouTube if the visibility setting is set to public, you can share the public url. It can also be added to a channel section, show up in search, related videos and suggested videos. It can be posted on your channel and also show up in the subscriber feed. None of those features apply if the visibility setting is set to private.

So what’s the workaround?

  • To find your playlist
  • Click on your content tab in YouTube studio.
  • Click on playlist.
  • Select a playlist.
  • This one is public, so you’re going to click on the pencil icon.
  • Click the dropdown next to public. Public means anyone can search for and view.
  • Unlisted means anyone with the link can view the playlist
  • Private means only you can view the playlist
  • Click on “Only You can view”
  • Grab the playlist link
  • Let’s see if we can see it in incognito mode.
  • Paste the link in the browser
  • t says “the playlist does not exist” That means anybody I share the link with won’t be able to see the videos in my playlist.

Now, I’m going to send the private playlist via email.

  • I’m going to send it to my Yahoo account.
  • New video, paste the link in there, make that live.
  • Click send. Here’s my new video.
  • Click on the playlist link
  • Now I can view the playlist, which means anyone that I send the link to via email will be able view the playlist

Keep in mind that if any of the individual videos in the private playlist are set to public, anybody with that link will be able to view that video in the playlist. If I set all the individual videos in the private playlist to private, then none of the videos will be available to the public.

Here’s how to share an unlisted playlist with anyone that has the link

This means anyone with a link can view the playlist or any videos in the playlist, so it’s not entirely private, but it’s an easier way to share your playlist. According to YouTube, you can share the URL of an unlisted playlist. It can be added to a channel section. It won’t show up in search, related videos or suggested videos. It can’t be posted on your channel and it won’t show up in the subscriber feed.

Here’s how to set your playlist visibility to unlisted

  • Click on the dropdown.
  • Click unlisted.
  • To share your playlist link, click on the arrow,
  • Click copy.
  • Now if you go to incognito mode and paste your URL in the browser we can see the playlist and all the videos in the playlist

Just keep in mind that the playlist is not entirely private because anyone you share the link with can view the videos in the playlist

Here’s how to share a playlist that contains other people’s videos

Here’s a playlist containing GoPro videos, which is currently set to private. If I  click on the playlist, all the videos have been saved from other people’s channels.

If I view the playlist in incognito mode, it says the playlist does not exist, so how can I share this playlist with a friend?

Let’s see if I can view it, if I send the playlist link via email.

  • So I’m going to highlight the link in the browser
  • Copy it.
  • Now I’m going to go to my Gmail and send it to my Yahoo address.
  • Subject line, GoPro.
  • Click send.
  • Let’s check my Yahoo account.
  • Here’s the email or subject line GoPro.
  • Click on the link. N

Now I can view the private playlist with all the videos in it. This means I can send this private playlist link to anyone that has an email, and when they click on it, they’ll be able to see all the videos in the playlist. I could also change the visibility settings to unlisted, like I showed you before, so anyone that I send the link to, would be able to view the playlist.

Just keep in mind that when you create a private playlist featuring videos from other people’s channels, the videos in that playlist will be available to the public.

Here’s how to collaborate on playlists, so you can let friends add videos to your playlist.

When you turn on this feature, anyone you share this playlist link with can add videos to the playlist.

  • To select the playlist you want to add collaborators to, click on content,
  • Click on playlists
  • Click on the selected playlist.
  • Click the dropdown to set it from private to public.
  • Click the three dots
  • Click collaborate.
  • Make sure you’ve got these two sliders to the right so you can allow new collaborators.
  • And it says, share the link to invite collaborators.
  • So you can copy the link and put it in your browser.

Now you can see all these videos have been added by drostvideo, but other people can also add videos to this playlist. Once you’ve been invited to a playlist, you can add and remove videos that you added in the past.

Keep in mind that when the playlists chnages or new collaborators join the playlist, the playlist owner will receive a notification.

How To Share A YouTube Playlist To Reach More Viewers

Mike had been working hard to create content for his YouTube channel, but he wanted to take his channel to the next level by sharing a playlist with his viewers, but he had no idea how to do it.

In the video below, you’ll learn how to share a YouTube playlist on YouTube, social media sites and on your website so you can reach more viewers.

Click here to sign up for my automated newsletter, so you’ll receive an email notification every time I upload a new video to my channel

Here’s how to find and share your own playlist.

There are two ways to find your own playlists.

  1. Log into YouTube channel homepage and click on playlists. Now you’ll see all the public and private playlists that you’ve created on your channel.
  2. The second way to find your playlist is to click on library, and now you see history watch later and playlist down the bottom here. Then you can just select your playlist. If you want to see more, click show more.

If you hover your mouse over the thumbnail, it says click play all, or you can click on the title or click view full playlists. So I’m going to click view full playlist. If you want to share your playlist, click on the arrow that says share, and here you’ve got the playlist link. If I copy the playlist link, paste it in my browser, you can see all the videos in the playlist.

What if you want to share just one video from the playlist?

  • Click on the three dots next to the video.
  • Click share.
  • Copy the link. .

If you want to share a single video from my playlist that still shows all the other videos in the playlist

  • Click the title of the video.
  • Copy the long share link that you see in the browser for the individual video in the playlist.
  • As you can see, it plays the video and also shows all the related videos in the playlist.

Let’s test out the Short share link.

  • Click on the share link under the video.
  • Copy the link.
  • Now I’m going to place it in the browser.
  • Here’s the video, but I don’t see the related videos in the playlist on the right hand side.
  • So don’t make the mistake of copying the share link under the video.
  • Instead, copy the long URL that you see in the browser for a specific video in the playlist.

So if you want to share a video within a playlist, click on the video, highlight the long url in the browser, right click, copy. Now, if you paste it in the browser, you’ll see the video and all the related videos in the playlist.

What if you want to share a playlist from somebody else’s channel?

Let’s go to the Costa Rica Travel Guide channel.

  • Click on playlists.
  • Click on view full playlist, and here’s the playlist page.
  • If you want to share this full playlist, hover over the arrow that says share
  • Copy the long playlist url and share it on your social media sites like blogger, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Pinterest, etcetera, or you can embed it on your blog.

If you want to share a single playlist

  • Click the three dots to the left of the video,
  • Click share
  • Now you have the single video of that particular playlist.
  • f I copy it, put it on my browser, the video will start playing, but it won’t show the related videos in the playlist.

Here’s how to show the video and all the related videos in the playlist

  • Click  on the title of the video that you wish to share.
  • Now you can see the video and all the related videos in the playlist.
  • Highlight the long URL of that video in the playlist,
  • Click share
  • Share it on blogger, Twitter, LinkedIn and social media sites.

Or if I click on embed, I can embed it on my blog.

How To Embed Your YouTube Playlist On Your WordPress Blog
(Increase the chances of your playlist getting found in YouTube search and Google search)

There are 2 ways to embed your playlist link in your WordPress website.

The first method is just to embed your playlist link in your WordPress website. However, when all the videos in the playlist stop playing, it shows unrelated videos that have nothing to do with your channel.

The second method is to alter the playlist embed code so it shows related videos from your channel when all the videos in a playlist have finished playing.

Embed your playlist link in your WordPress website

  • Log into your WordPress dashboard.
  • Click on posts,
  • Click add new.
  • Click the plus sign
  • Click on YouTube, paste in your playlist URL.
Now you’ll see the video from the playlist embedded in your blog post.

Alter the playlist embed code so it only shows related videos from your channel when all the videos in your playlist have stopped playing

  • Log into your WordPress dashboard.
  • Click on posts,
  • Click add new.
  • Click on the three dots that says  options.
  • Click on code editor.
  • Click the arrow that says share.
  • Click on embed
  • Copy the iframe code and paste it into notepad.
  • You’ve got to copy this rel=0 code or the HTML code (see video)
  • Add it to your playlist embed code.
  • Copy that, then go to the end of the URL
  • Paste it at the end of the url.
  • Copy the full embed code.
  • Go to your WordPress site, paste it in the box.
  • Click preview
  • Click preview new tab.
  • Now I can view my playlist.
  • If I scroll to the end of the video, it goes straight to next video.
  • When the last video in the playlist stops playing, it shows related videos from my channel.
  • If I hadn’t added this rel=0 code to my playlist embed code, it would show unrelated videos at the end of the video that was just playing.

How To Promote Your Landing Page

  • Share your landing page on your video or in your video description.
  • Pin it to the top of your comments, so when viewers go to leave a comment under your video, they’ll see your landing page.
  • Promote it in your channel description by adding it to your about page.
  • Add a link in your description, so the landing page link appears on your channel banner.
  • Notify your subscribers by adding a link on your community tab.
  • Share your video on social media sites. Post your landing page link on social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etcetera. This will enable you to share your content with a wider audience outside YouTube.
  • Post your landing page link on your website or blog to get more subscribers.

Here are the top 4 four reasons to set up an automated email for your new content on YouTube

  1. Get more views and eyes on your content.
It’s easy for YouTube subscribers to get distracted from all the notifications they receive from YouTube, and they may miss out on your new upload. When they receive an email from you, it’s more personal than receiving a notification from YouTube and they’re more likely to open it.
  2. Get an early boost in the algorithm.
If you get a high view velocity on your YouTube video when you first upload it, it sends a signal to the YouTube algorithm that people are very interested in watching your video. It also increases the probability that your video will be suggested to a wider audience.
  3. Control the connection with your audience.
Recently, I polled my subscribers by asking them, “Do you get notified by YouTube when I upload a Short?” 76% said no. Only 14% said yes. 10% said my shorts appear in their subscriptions feed. This means that the majority of my subscribers won’t receive any notification when I upload a new Short to my YouTube channel.

When you own your email list, you’re not dependent upon the YouTube algorithm to bring in new viewers, which is scary. YouTube says they’ll only notify YouTube subscribers about new shorts videos on your channel, if they watch a lot of shorts videos.

What if the algorithm changes or your channel gets terminated? You’ll suddenly lose all connection with your subscribers. By creating and growing your email list, you control the connection with your audience and you’re not dependent upon the YouTube algorithm. Having an email list creates a backup plan for your channel.
  4. Save time.
After you’ve set up your auto newsletter, you don’t have to do anymore work because it’s fully automated. You just set it up once, so every time you upload a new video to your channel, an automated email goes out to your subscribers. There’s no extra work on your part.

Click here to sign up for my automated newsletter, so you’ll receive an email notification every time I upload a new video (long-form or Short) to my channel. You won’t have to rely on YouTube notifications that you may or may not receive.

Boost Your Channel’s Visibility With YouTube Playlists & Generate More Views

If you’re looking to boost the views and engagement for your YouTube channel, YouTube playlists are the way to go. They can be discovered in suggested videos,  on your channel homepage,  playlist page, above your video title, featured in your video description,  linked in a card or end screen,  ranked in YouTube search or Google search, or pinned to the top of your comments.

In the video below, you’ll learn how to create a perfect playlist, how to add videos to your playlist, how to optimize your playlist so it gets a ton of views, how to share and promote your playlists, and learn the best practices so you can gain maximum visibility for your channel and videos.

SECRETS TO AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT” You’ll discover how to hook your viewers’ attention, get them to spend more time on each video, and motivate them to watch more videos from your channel, so YouTube will recommend your content to other channels.

Why create playlists for your YouTube channel?

It’s a great way to categorize your content so viewers can binge watch related videos together. When they watch one video in a playlist, the next one automatically begins playing.

They also help to increase engagement and watch time because instead of just watching one video, they’ll watch several videos in a row. When someone watches a video in an official playlist, YouTube will recommend the related videos from that playlist.

When viewers watch multiple videos from your channel in one session, there’s a higher probability that YouTube will suggest those videos to a wider audience.

YouTube says…
Our goal is to get people to watch more videos that they enjoy so they can come back to YouTube regularly”

What are Suggested Videos?

Suggested videos is a personalized connection of videos that an individual viewer may be interested in watching next, based on prior activity or past watch history. As you can see, these videos appear on the right side of the watch page,  below the video on the mobile app, and as the next video in auto play.

75% of YouTube’s traffic comes from suggested traffic. That’s why YouTube playlists are very powerful.

How to create and optimize a perfect playlist so it gets tons of views

  • Log into YouTube studio,
  • click on create at the  top right click on new playlist.
  • Give your playlist a title ie “how to create engaging YouTube videos with chatGPT”
  • Keep in mind your playlist title will appear on your channel homepage, as well as above your video title on the video watch page.
  • Select visibility.
  • You have the choice, public, private, or unlisted.
  • Click public.
  • Click create.
  • Click on your content tab,
  • Click on playlists.
  • Hover over the pencil that says “Edit on YouTube“. Currently it has no videos and no description.
  • Click on edit description, “how to use chatGPT to make engaging videos that get more views“.
  • Click save.

Keep in mind, your playlist description will appear on your channel homepage.

How To Add Videos To Your Playlist

  • Under the playlist title.
  • Click on the 3 dots.
  • Click add videos.
  • Select the related videos that you want added to your playlist.
  • Click add videos.
  • To add a video, click on the three dots.
  • Click add videos.
  • Select the video from the list, or you can search all YouTube or paste the URL in the box.
  • Click add videos.
  • Now I can see it’s added to my playlist.
  • If I click on the three dots, it says, add to cue, save to watch later, save to playlist, remove from this playlist, share it. I can move it to the top, move it to bottom.

How To Set The Playlist Thumbnail

I can also choose any video’s thumbnail to set as a playlist thumbnail.
Now you can see the thumbnail has changed.

If you want to delete this video, hover over the three dots, click remove.

I can also sort these videos by just dragging and dropping them.
– Click on the three dots.
– Click on playlist settings
– Allow embedding,
– Add new videos to the top of the playlist.

Set Playlist as official series
This means if somebody’s watching a video in a playlist, YouTube will recommend the other videos in the playlist. Now, if I click play all, the first video plays in the playlist, and then the other videos in the playlist.

Keep in mind that it may take a while for a clickable playlist link to appear under your video, because YouTube is still rolling this out. You’re not only going to get a clickable playlist link under your video, but if you go into your description and scroll down,  under chapters, you’ll see featured playlist. Then if you click on that, it’ll go to your playlist page.

This means that viewers don’t have to leave your video watch page to click on your playlist and watch related videos leading to more views.

Where should you share your playlist link to expose content to a wider audience?

  • Create sections on your channel homepage containing playlists.
  • Add it to your video description so viewers will watch more than one video.
  • Pin it to the top of your comments so when viewers go to leave a comment, they’ll see your playlist link.
  • Link to a related playlist in the end screen so viewers will continue their viewing session.
  • Share your playlist link on social media sites to expose your content to a wider audience.
  • Embed your playlist on your blog to increase the chances of your playlist getting found in YouTube search and Google search.

Here are some best practices for using playlists to boost your channel’s visibility

  • Create a compelling title and description, because it’ll appear on your channel homepage, and it’ll help your playlist get discovered in the search engines.
  • Choose your best thumbnail from the list of videos in your playlist, so it stands out in the search engines.
  • Set your playlist as an official series, so the related videos in that playlist will be recommended by YouTube. Keep in mind, you must have a verified account to use series playlists and a video cannot appear in more than one series playlist.
  • Place your best playlist at the top of your channel homepage because this is what first time visitors see first and will encourage them to subscribe to your channel.
  • Place your most popular videos at the beginning of your playlist because these videos have proven to attract a lot of traffic.
  • Avoid placing too many videos in your playlist because I find that most viewers only watch the first few videos in that playlist.
  • Before you create a playlist, think about a series of videos based upon a specific theme, then make sure those videos flow into each other.
  • When you link to a playlist in the end screen or end card, make sure you link to the whole playlist URL instead of to a single video. .

If you’re a small channel or just getting started on YouTube, I highly recommend adding videos from popular channels to your playlist. Make sure you place one of your own videos at the beginning of your playlist so you get credit for that viewing session. This will help boost your channel’s visibility and speed up its growth
