How To Write An Informational Article That Attracts Visitors

Everyone has information inside of them that can be monetized however not everybody is aware of it. For instance if you know how to restore old vehicles you could write a series of articles about it and sell it as an ebook on Amazon. The problem most people have is how to write an informational article. If it’s not done correctly it won’t get accepted or published.

7 Steps on how to write an informational article

1. Create a list of topics

Take out a sheet of paper and write down all the topics you can think of. Don’t worry about how they sound because the purpose of this exercise is to do a brain dump. After doing this select one topic then write down all the most frequently asked questions people would or should ask on that topic. The answers to these questions will provide content for your article.

2. Research keywords

The purpose of keyword research is to find out if people are actually searching on them each month. If you only get a few searches for a specific keyword it will mean your article won’t attract many visitors from the search engines. Include your main keyword or keyword phrase in the title, content and resource box of your article.

3. Create a captivating title

If the title of your article doesn’t capture the attention of your reader they won’t even read the first paragraph. The title needs to stand out from other articles on the same topic. use action verbs such as discover, how to, learn or make your title into a question. Try to place your main keyword phrase at the beginning. For example instead of writing “top 7 tips on article writing” write “article writing – top 7 tips.”

4. Introduce your content

The first paragraph is an outline of what you are going to say. Describe a specific problem your reader may have on the topic you’re writing about then tell them you’re going to give them 7 tips on how to resolve it. This makes the reader want to read the rest of your content.

5. Write 7 tips

Create a separate paragraph for each tip. Use numbers or bullet points so your content will be easy to read. Most people scan articles so bold your headings and subheadings. Write at least a 500 word article naturally weaving your keywords into the content. Write in a conversational tone like you’re talking to a friend.

6. Summarize what you said

Often the reader has forgotten the main benefits of the article by the time they have completed reading it therefore use your last paragraph to summarize your main content. Avoid repeating the same sentences and keep the paragraph brief.

7. Create a call to action

Most publishers of informational articles allow a resource box or bio box at the end of your content where you can include a call to action. This could be a link back to your website or a free report for them to download to receive more information.

Some writers make the mistake of sending visitors to an unrelated offer. This is a waste of investment. Make sure your call to action relates directly to the content you’ve written about.

If you follow these 7 tips on how to write an informational article it will increase the chances of it being published on the Net. After writing a series of these articles you’ll become recognized as an expert in your field.
